Let's save lives …

Women, bravery, freedom in iran: Lives of women are in danger in iran

I’m on death row for

Pakhshan, a 40-year-old social worker, dedicated her life to helping vulnerable children in her community. Her commitment to these children and her support for their well-being was her only “crime.” Despite her innocent work and dedication to the next generation, she was arrested and unjustly sentenced to death with no clear charges or justifications. Pakhshan’s life now hangs in the balance, and every day she remains in prison could be her last. Her story highlights the dire situation of women in Iran who, for merely caring for their communities and supporting human rights, face the risk of execution.

Pakhshan’s ordeal is not unique. Recently, executions in Iran have surged dramatically: since August, more than 430 individuals have been executed. This relentless wave of executions is a critical warning sign, especially for resistant prisoners, who are increasingly targeted by the authorities. These women suffer alone, facing torture, isolation, and the constant threat of death, merely for supporting justice and humanity.

I’m on death row for helping girls…

Varisheh, a 31-year-old teacher and mother, has been a quiet but powerful advocate for equality in her rural community. She taught local girls basic literacy and mathematics, believing in their right to an education and a better future. When she expressed support for peaceful national protests calling for women’s rights, she was arrested and now faces an imminent death sentence.

In prison, Varisheh has endured torture, threats, and deprivation. Despite the unbearable conditions, her spirit remains unbroken, standing as a testament to her belief in justice and freedom. Like many other women activists in Iran, Varisheh’s commitment to equality has unjustly placed her life in danger.

I’m in jail for my words…

Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee, a writer and human rights advocate, has used her words to critique the practice of stoning and condemn the use of the death penalty. This peaceful expression quickly became grounds for her imprisonment. Accused of “insulting sacred values” and “propaganda against the state,” Golrokh is now isolated in prison, deprived of her right to write and express herself. Her story embodies the courage of women who use their voices for change, even in the face of oppression.
