On September 7, Verein Welle hosted a meaningful friendship gathering in Zurich, attended by many supporters of the organization. The event featured a diverse program that included musical performances, reports on the organization’s activities, and information on the current state of the Iranian protest movement, human rights violations in Iran, and an exhibition commemorating the 2022 uprising.

The program, guided by Vida, one of the organization’s volunteers, began with a heartwarming piano and cello performance. Following this, Maestro Taherzadeh showcased Iranian music, playing the violin, accompanied by a musician on the traditional Iranian instrument, the Tonbak.
A highlight of the evening was the musical improvisation involving violin, Tonbak, piano, cello, and saxophone, performed by our dear friend René, which provided a unique and enriching musical experience for the audience.
Mr. Rochaix, the attorney representing Verein Welle, elaborated on the significance of the organization, its activities, and the role of volunteers, before personally answering questions from the audience.
Later in the program, Neda shared updates on the organization’s activities with the United Nations and discussed the far-reaching impact of the recent report by Mr. Javaid Rehman on the 1988 massacre and the ongoing Iranian population movement. Another human rights activist presented an extensive report, accompanied by a slideshow, focusing on the importance of the Iranian protests and the current political and social situation in the country.
An additional segment of the program included a film about the historical Iranian city of Birdchand, which was met with great interest and attention by the attendees.

Speech by Mr. Rochaix
Mr. Rochaix, who has been working with Verein Welle since its inception, is responsible for the organization’s legal matters. He expressed gratitude to the attendees for their support and said, “I thank all members of Verein Welle who, day by day, not only serve on the board but also engage in many areas to advocate for human rights in Iran.”

Neda’s presentation

Neda, a volunteer who is active in various areas of Verein Welle, discussed the significance of the recent report by Dr. Javaid Rehman before the end of his term as UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran.
Neda explained that Rehman’s report on the genocides committed in 1981 and 1982 against political prisoners, and especially the 1988 massacre of 30,000 imprisoned dissidents, had provoked many reactions. Not only from numerous international lawyers and judges who have supported and encouraged his courage and efforts in exposing these truths, but also from the Iranian regime, which has acknowledged that this official UN report can be used to bring charges of crimes against humanity and genocide against the Iranian regime before the International Court of Justice.
This report is based on years of independent research by UN experts, including letters, testimonies from victims’ families, and photos documenting the brutal massacres carried out by the Mullah regime. Verein Welle has also made a significant contribution in this regard.
