UN-Mission deckt massive Menschenrechtsverletzungen und Kriegsverbrechen im Iran-Konflikt auf

Massive Menschenrechtsverletzungen

A groundbreaking UN-backed report from the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Iran’s situation has unveiled shocking findings detailing widespread state violence against Iranian civilians, alongside direct war crimes committed by foreign powers. The report documents unprecedented state repression during recent nationwide protests, as well as civilian devastation resulting from United States military strikes.

Crimes Against Humanity by the Iranian Government

The Fact-Finding Mission concluded there are reasonable grounds to believe the Iranian regime committed Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit—including murder, arbitrary imprisonment, torture, and enforced disappearances—as part of a systematic attack on peaceful protesters.

  • Massive Fatalities and Injuries: Security forces deployed lethal force across all 31 provinces. While official government records acknowledge 3,038 deaths and over 25,000 injuries, independent findings indicate the true casualty count is significantly higher.
  • Tragic Toll on Children: Zumindest 221 children were killed during the crackdown, including toddlers as young as two years old. Hundreds of youth suffered life-altering injuries, including close-range shotgun blasts targeting eyes.
  • Attacks on Healthcare: Iranian security forces militarized medical facilities, raiding hospitals (such as Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ilam), firing tear gas inside wards, beating staff, and arresting injured protesters seeking emergency care.
  • Record Digital Blackout: To conceal atrocities, the government enforced a nationwide internet and communications shutdown lasting nearly five months—the longest uninterrupted total digital blackout on record.
  • Escalated Executions: Authorities intensified the use of the death penalty following summary trials lacking basic due process, executing at least 29 men in connection with the protests (5 publicly) and placing over 70 others—including women and minors—at imminent risk of execution.

Calls for Peace, Reparations, and International Accountability

The independent experts emphasized that Iranian civilians remain caught between extreme internal state repression and devastating external military violence. The report demands an immediate cessation of hostilities, full independent investigations into all human rights and humanitarian law violations, guarantees of non-repetition, and comprehensive reparations for all victims and surviving families from both the Iranian and U.S. governments.
