Massive Wave of Death Sentences Against Protesters in Iran

Stop executions in iran

Death Sentences as a Tool of Terror

The lives of political prisoners in Iran are in immediate and grave danger. Under the cover of regional conflicts, the Iranian regime has significantly accelerated its execution machinery, targeting those who participated in the recent uprisings.

The judiciary has recently issued a series of criminal death sentences against protesters. These individuals, who were arrested during the January 2026 protests, are now facing the gallows after being subjected to brutal interrogations.

Among those condemned to death are:

  • Mohammadreza Majidi Asl
  • Bita Hemmati (his wife)
  • Behrouz Zamaninezhad
  • Kourosh Zamaninezhad

In addition to these death sentences, the authorities have ordered the total confiscation of their property, leaving their families devastated. These sentences are being issued in bulk to intimidate a society that refuses to remain silent.

Inhumane Conditions: Prisons as Death Traps

The situation inside Iranian prisons has reached a critical breaking point. Beyond the fear of execution, prisoners are enduring “white torture” and physical violence on a daily basis. Reports highlight a horrific reality:

  • Forced Confessions: Death sentences are being based on “confessions” extracted under severe physical and psychological torture.
  • Lack of Legal Protection: Prisoners are denied access to independent lawyers and are being sentenced in secret, rapid-fire sessions.
  • Dire Health Crisis: Overcrowding, lack of sanitation, and the deliberate denial of medical care are being used as tools to slowly break the will of the detainees.

The World Must Not Look Away

The Iranian regime is counting on the world’s silence. By focusing on war and regional instability, they believe they can execute political prisoners without international consequence. We must not allow the “fog of war” to become a shroud for those on death row.

We call for:

  • An immediate international intervention to halt the execution of these four individuals and all other political prisoners.
  • The unconditional release of those detained for exercising their right to protest.
  • Global pressure to stop the use of the death penalty as a weapon of political suppression.

The clock is ticking for those in Iranian prisons. Every minute of silence brings them one step closer to the gallows.
