Great news: Toomaj Salehi released after international and humanitarian efforts

In a remarkable turn of events, Toomaj Salehi, the courageous rapper and human rights advocate from Iran, has been released after enduring over a year of imprisonment. His release marks a significant victory for human rights and a powerful testament to the collective strength of international solidarity.

Toomaj’s life was hanging by a thread when news of his imminent execution emerged. However, thanks to an extraordinary coalition of international organizations, media outlets, and humanitarian campaigns—including the relentless efforts of us in Switzerland—his execution was halted, and the regime was forced to release him.

Our campaign at Verein Welle, part of the global “No to Executions” movement, played a crucial role in amplifying Toomaj’s plight. By uniting voices across borders, raising awareness in Switzerland, and collaborating with other human rights organizations worldwide, we ensured that Toomaj’s case received the attention it desperately needed.

The international outcry was overwhelming. Media coverage, public demonstrations, and advocacy by global leaders placed immense pressure on the Iranian regime, leaving it with no choice but to comply with the calls for justice. This victory underscores the power of unity and determination in the face of oppressive regimes.

While we celebrate Toomaj’s freedom, we remain mindful of the countless others who are still unjustly imprisoned or face grave danger.

Toomaj’s voice—a voice of truth, resilience, and defiance—is free again. Let us carry this momentum forward, ensuring that the world continues to stand united against oppression and for the dignity of every human being.

Thank you to everyone who supported this cause. Together, we have made a difference.
