Less than a week before the regime’s sham presidential election, the Supreme Court of the Mullah regime overturned the death sentence of Toomaj Salehi, a popular musician and human rights activist. Toomaj had been arrested about a year and a half earlier, primarily due to his protest songs criticizing the regime, and was subsequently sentenced to death.
The announcement of his death sentence sparked widespread protests both in Iran and internationally. In response, the Verein Welle organization, along with other human rights groups, campaigned vigorously to halt the execution of Toomaj Salehi and other prisoners. Thanks to these collective efforts, not only was Toomaj’s death sentence overturned, but several other political prisoners were also released.
We are deeply grateful for the support of all our friends and partners who contributed to this achievement.
