Protecting Detained Protesters and the Wounded Amid Iran’s Nationwide Uprising
The content will be updated
Since December 28, the people of Iran have been protesting for their basic human rights and the basic necessities of daily life. What makes these protests special is the shift in demands from economic concerns to calls for an end to the mullah dictatorship. The demonstrations have quickly spread to all 31 provinces of the country, with people from all walks of life and generations taking part. Large crowds were reported in Tehran, Shiraz and Isfahan, and millions were reported in Mashhad.
Their common slogan is: “We have nothing left to lose.”

As The uprising enters a critical and increasingly violent phase, the consequences of repression are becoming devastating. So far More than 12000 protesters have been killed, more than 300000 injured, more than 6000 blind or in critical eye situation and more than 50000 have been arbitrarily detained by security forces and are in great risk of execution. They Need our help now!
Beyond the visible fatalities, an even larger and more silent danger threatens the lives of injured protesters—particularly those shot by live bullets—who are now at high risk of severe infection, permanent disability, or death due to their inability to seek medical treatment. Fear of arrest, surveillance of hospitals, and intimidation of medical staff have forced many wounded individuals into hiding, where even minor untreated injuries can become fatal.
At the same time, detained protesters face an imminent risk of torture, enforced disappearance, fabricated charges, and extrajudicial killing, following well-documented patterns from previous crackdowns in Iran. The internet shutdown on 8 January made the situation more urgent and increased the threat of direct shooting.

The Scale of the Emergency
- Live ammunition and direct fire have been used against civilians in multiple cities.
- Hundreds of arrests have been carried out without warrants or due process.
- Wounded protesters, including those with gunshot wounds, are avoiding hospitals due to fear of detention.
- Medical access is systematically denied, creating a high risk of infection, sepsis, and long-term injury.
- Families are kept in the dark, often receiving no information about the whereabouts or condition of detained relatives.
This is not an isolated phenomenon, but part of a coordinated strategy of repression designed to break public resistance by spreading fear and silencing victims.
Why Immediate International Action Is Crucial
Experience from past uprisings—including 2019 and 2022—shows that the most severe human rights violations often occur after arrests, inside detention centers and during secret interrogations. Without rapid international attention, detainees may be subjected to:
- Torture and forced confessions
- Denial of legal representation
- Closed, unfair trials
- Deaths in custody presented as “natural causes”
Similarly, wounded protesters who cannot access medical care face preventable deaths due to infections and untreated injuries.
Time is critical. Every day of silence increases the risk of irreversible harm.
Our Objective
Welle has launched this emergency project to:
- Document and verify cases of detention, injury, and death related to the uprising.
- Expose the conditions of detainees through international legal and advocacy channels.
- Support families of detainees and victims through international legal campaign and humanitarian pathways.
- Mobilize international mechanisms to pressure Iranian authorities and prevent further atrocities.
Communication & Information System
To overcome censorship, fear, and isolation, we are operating a secure communication and information system that allows:
- Families and witnesses to safely submit information about arrests and injuries
- Verification and documentation of cases for international human rights bodies
- Rapid dissemination of urgent alerts to UN mechanisms, NGOs, media, and legal networks
- Coordination of cross-border humanitarian and legal support
This system plays a vital role in breaking enforced silence and enabling life-saving interventions.
Call for International Support
We urgently call on:
- Human rights organizations
- International legal experts and networks
- Medical and humanitarian actors
- Foundations and institutional donors
- Governments and UN mechanisms
to put pressure on Iranian regime with advocacy, legal action, and emergency response cooperation.
Please Help us in this project:
Your support will directly contribute to:
- Saving lives
- Preventing torture and executions
